II.

1. The labourers shall perform for the Bataafsche Petroleu

Company the following work, that is, all work, which can

reasonably be required from Chinese labourera on an estate,

having for its purpose the looating, obtaining, removing

and preparing of mining produce, including the necessary

transportation, the loading and discharging and all such

work as may be required on the employers concessions,

including the supervising of the work of other workmen

and giving help in case of fire, flood or any other

calamity.

2. The kind of work to be done by the labourers, shall be

decided by the Administrator.

3. Whereever in this contract the word administrator shall be

used it shall be understood to mean the manare of the

estate where the labourer is employed.

4. The labourer, shall do the work allotted to them according

to the instructions, which have been issued by, on in the

name of, the administrator.

A. Mine hours at the utmoet shall constitute a day's work.

B. The administrator shall have the right to fix the time

for work, as he may deem advisable.

0. At the option of the Administrator the labourere shall

work for day wages, at daily task, on piecework or by

contract.

D. In the first and last instance they shall be bound to work

for rine hours per diem.

E. In the espond instance they shall be obliged to finish a

reasonable task. If this has been dcue according to the

rules and to the satisfaction of the overscer or in his

absenos, of the mandos", under whose supervision they have worked, they shall be allowed to return home, with the understanding, that if the mandoer should be of the opinion,

that the work is not satisfactory, either in quantity or quality, they shall be obliged to stay at the work till the overscor has given his decision in the matter,
