With reference to your Confidential Circu- -lar Despatch of the 20th. of January last, I have the honour to transmit the enclosed copy of a letter from the Hongkong General Chamber of Commerce on the subject of the Interim Report on the Importation of goods from present enemy countri-

-os after the war.

I have pointed out to the Chamber that

their views were invited, and forwarded in my Despatch No. 156 3295 of the 10th. of May, on Mr. Bonar Law's Circular Despatch of

the 25th. of September last for the consideration of the

Committee to which they refer in paragraph 8 of their letter which forms an enclosure to this Despatch.
