VII Bayonet Fighting.

The officers and Sergeants have attended Classes and received
Special Instruction from 2 Instructors of the 4th. K. §. I. I.
and have been able to instruct their Platoons at parades.
VIII Field Operations.
Field Operations were held in the New Territories in New Kowloon
on Sunday the 23rd. January and Sunday the 11th. February 1917
in accordance with General and Special Ideas previously prepared.
The Officers being detailed to go over the country previously so as
to gain a knowledge of the ground. Field operations have also
been held in the Sookunpoo Valley and neighbourhood on several
occasions.
(XI) Inspections
The Corps was inspected by His Excellency the General Officer
Commanding on the Polo Ground on the 26th. July 1916. His Excellency
also inspected the Corps at their various mobilisation stations in £
the Victoria Section and the patrols furnished from Aberdeen to
Stanley on the 24th. March 1917.
X Machine Gun Section.
The Machine Gun Section consists of 1 Officer, 2nd. Lieut. Thornhill
and 13 N. C. Os. and men with 2 Machine guns they have drilled
twice weekly during the year the Instructor being Sergeant W. Bowles
4th. K. S. L. I. who has now left. All are now qualified Machine gummers. The Section has taken part in all Field Days and Field Exercises with the Corps and have fired Part I of the Machine gun
Course in 1916 and 1917 and Part II in 1917. It is hoped that mora
ammunition will be available during the current year for firing
practices.
II Signalling Section
The Signalling Section consists of 1 Sergeant 1 Lance Sergt. 2 Lance Corporals and 9 Privates in addition to 2 on leave. Practices are held usually 3 times a week. The training has consisted of Visual Signalling (including buzzer) based upon the Signalling Training
Mamual.
