I entered the Engineering Department of King's
College, London, as a matriculated student and remained there
1 year 1891-2.
I served 3 years as an articled pupil to Mr. T. Walker M. Ånst. C.E. Borough and Tater Engineer, Croydon,
1893/6, was engaged as a paid assistant under him from the
date of expiration of my articles.
After the 1st. year of my pupilage I was engaged
upon works in the same way as the assistant engineers, except
that I was, of course, not paid.
I became a student at the Institution of Civil
Engineers in 1894.
I was engaged as an assistant upon the
following works:-
Survey and laying out land for extension to sewage
irrigation farms at Norwood and Beddington.
Laying new sewers and stormwater drains in iron and stoneware pipe and in brickwork.
Building now roads.
Checking the work of private firms when laying out private estates for building purposes, inclusive of drainage works.
Maintenance and repair of the Borough drains and sewers. Design a system of settling tanks &c. (not carried out) and experimented with septic tanks.
