A Tour Excellency is aware, a large sum of money
has been raised in this Colony for the purpose of erecting a
"kuropean Y.M.0.A." building here.
In view of the heavy calls upon generous and willing
supporters for War Charities and other purposes, it would be
impossible to raise an additional fund for the purpose of buying
land upon which to erect the proposed institue.
It is the desire of the Directors to erect a worthy
-ant building for this import/ work containingt-

It is unnecessary perhape to remind Your Excellency
that the "Y.N.0.A." has rendered invaluable service both here, at
home and in France in connection with the present war, and that it
has great and increasing opportunities of service here provided a
suitable building be erected on a central site. Too much stress
cannot, however, be laid upon the importance of the building being
easily and quickly accessible to young men living in the Town or
landing from ships, indeed we are convinced that unless this is the
case the scheme is doomed to failure, or at any rate to considerable
ourtailment in its possibilities of service.
The Government owne the only site in Hongkong suitable
in every way for the proposed building viz., the "Old Post Office"
site.
