Regulations made by His Excellency the Governor for the maintenance of discipline on board Admiralty transports.

TRANSPORTS DISCIPLINE REGULATIONS, 1917, (No. 2).

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-clause 1 (a) of clause III of the Order of Her late Majesty Queen Victoria in Council dated the 26th day of October, 1896, as enacted by the Order of His Majesty in Council dated the 21st day of March, 1916, which were brought into operation in the Colony by Proclamations dated the 5th day of August, 1914, and the 12th day of May, 1910, respectively, His Excellency the Governor is pleased to make the following regulations :-

1. (1.) Every seaman who commits an offence against the provisions of Penalties, paragraph (a) of Regulation I (1) of the Transports Discipline Regulations, 1917, shall be liable upon summary conviction to a fine not exceeding two hun- dred and fifty dollars, and to imprisonment with or without hard labour for any term not exceeding ten weeks.

(2.) Every seaman who commits an offence against the provisions of para- graph (b) of Regulation I (1) of the Transports Discipline Regulations, 1917, shall be liable upon summary conviction to a fine not exceeding fifty dollars.

2. All offences against the Transports Discipline Regulations, 1917, may Procedure. be prosecuted before any stipendiary magistrate and every stipendiary magis- trate shall in relation to all such offences have the like powers and authorities as are given to a magistrate under the Magistrates Ordinance, 1890, in respect of offences punishable on summary conviction.
