I should point out that the return in (c) of the 'nominal' or 'paid up' value of the shares is slightly mis- -leading, for instance, among the largest holdings by Germans in these returns are Hongkong and Shanghai Bank shares, and Union Insurance shares. The former are X125 shares, now quoted on the market at 2715, and the latter are $100 shares quoted at $900.
On the other hand, a number, but distinctly a mmaller number, have depreciated, and a few may prove to be worth nothing at all.
