sir,
With reference to my Despatch No. 464 of the
28th. December, 1916, and to your telegram of 10th. February,
1917, I have the honour to inform you that I dismissed Mr. Bowen-Rowlands from the Government Service with effect from
the 14th. February, 1917.
2.
Mr. Bowen-Rowlands being without funds was
granted a free passage to England by the 8.8. "Atsuta Maru" on the 17th. February for the purpose of joining His Majesty's Forces; but owing to the restrictions in force his wife has not yet left the Colony. I have, however, given instructions that when these restrictions are withdrawn a passage to England will be provided for Mrs. Bowen-Rowlands on condition that she avails herself of the privilege within a reasonable
period.
I have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your most obedient,
humble servant,
Hona
Governor, &o..
BIE RIGHT HONOURABLE
WALTER LONG, M.P.,
