has been informed that the payment of 8800 a month out of the
funds of the bank in connection with his care of the affairs of
the German Consulate will not be continued after the 31st March.
5.
The books and records of the bank will be packed
up and stored, and the securities formerly held by the bank for safe custody will be lodged in the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking
Corporation.
6.
The last part of the question in Parliament re-
fers to the exclusion of the bank from all future operations in
the Colony. If this refers to the period after the war, the question is an Imperial one upon which I do not suppose that you wish me to make any remarks. If it refers to the present period, I need only say that no new business of any kind has
been allowed since the commencement of the winding up, which
has been confined to the collection of assets, discharge of
liabilities and settlement of accounts.
I have the honour to be,
sir.
Your most obedient, humble servant,
Bring
Governor,&c.
