You will of course have gathered that the statement, as cabled by the Hongkong Bank and put before the Texas Company, does not merely refer to my Company's agendy of this Texas business, but to "Eny" agency in which my Company is concerned, or may be hereafter; in other words, it means that it could not be interested in any other business which it might introduce to our British correspondents in Hongkong in the foru of an agency.
I am anxiously looking forward to your reply, so that I can at last inform the Texas Company one way or the other, and, .■ to the consequences of an answer informing me that the Governor has got with- drawn his veto, sweeping as it is, I beg leave to refer you to my cable just quoted and my previous reports.
