I am writing you these private lines in order to express to you not only my dappointment that the matter of the Texas contracts is hot settled even now, but to give you a most earnest and friendly warning, in the mutual interest, that, if you are able to make your London peo- ple listen to reason, this Texas business will be lost to you.
