DAR VILT

HJES

As we have never had payment for the goods we wrote on

the 12th May 1915 to the Liquidators of Messrs. Melchers & Co.,

Messrs. Lows, Bingham & Matthews in HongKong, claiming the

goods as unpaid fendors. On the 6th July 1915 Messrs. Lowe

Bingham & Matthews replied acknowledging our claim and inform-

ing us that they would write to the original consignees to

take up the goods against cash, and then remit to us the

proceeds. Since then we have not heard from Hesars, Lowe

Bingham & Matthews. We wrote them again on the 9th August

1915, 1st December 1915 and on the 10th March 1916. We are

at a loss to understand why Messrs. Lowe Bingham & Matthews

have not written again to us, ner de we know what has become

of the goods.

-

You were good enough to consider our claim as unpaid vendore

in a very similar case respecting goods lying at Singapore

(see your letter of 17th February, No.6728/1916). A similar

practice has obtained respecting prewar shipments of ours

to East Africa for account of enemy aliens. We shall be much,

obliged if you will assist us in this matter and authorise

Masers.Lowe Bingham & Matthews to hold the goods at our dis-

posal,er if they should have disposed of the goods in the mean-

time, to pay us the invoice value out of the proceeds.
