The Peninsular & Oriental S. N. Co., and following them, the "Ben" line of steamers, have in consequence, decided to decline to receive cargo for such Ports, on the ground that they have not sufficient staff to attend to
such details.
The Nippon Yusen Kaisha will continue to take
cargo for the Ports in question as heretofore, if the name of the ultimate receiver of the goods is stencilled
on each package.

Our position therefore is, that we shall have
but one line of steamers, by which we can make
shipments to these Ports, whereas even with the three lines
formerly at our disposal, we have an accumulation of
hundreds of packages, which we have been unable to get
shipped thus far.
I need not therefore, point
out that will be our position when two of the three are
closed to us.
