I beg respectfully to state that you will forward the following petition to His Excellency the Governor of Hong-Kong for his kind consideration.
My husband MC W T Brett late Sanitary Inspector Hong Kong was landed at Colombo in August 1915 whilst on a voyage to England and was sent to an Asylum there. He was killed when he was sent to England as an ordinary passenger (with no attendant) on the S.S. Miyazaki Maru on the 16th August after 16 days on board he became violent and had to be constantly watched by two of the crew.
On his arrival in England he was admitted to the Royal Albert Dock Asylum at Goodmayes, Essex on the 21st November 1915.
The allowance of 28/- per week barely suffices for myself and child and it is impossible for me to support...
