Cuiana, who might have gone to Hong Kong, but did not the
reason for her refusal was that under the terme of
appointment at Hong Kong, a l'urse has first to serve
Private Nurse instead of being appointed at once for Hospital
work.
With regard to the appointment of Nurses to the
l'eak Hospital since the close of 1914, I am to point out
that only one liurse has been appointed to that Institution,
namely, Miss Hawken in June of this year. Miss Hawken does
not hold a maternity certificate, and, therefore, is not
eligible for appointment to the Civil Hospital
