I am directed by

Minister of Munitions to refer

to your letter (6.58005/1916) of the 16th August on the

subject of the export of Australian Lead from Hong Kong and your subsequent letters of the 4th September (41302/1916) and 7th September (42243/1916) with regard to proposed shipments

of 400 tons and 30 tons of Burma Lead to Yokohama.

I am to state, for the information of Mr. Secretary Bonar

Law, that circumstances have changed since the letter from

this Department of the 22nd July on this subject, and that

there is no longer any objection to the re-exportation, under

proper safeguards, from Hong Kong of lead obtained from either

British or Foreign sources.
