I am directed by
Minister of Munitions to refer
to your letter (6.58005/1916) of the 16th August on the
subject of the export of Australian Lead from Hong Kong end your subsequent letters of the 4th September (41302/1916) and 7th September 42243/1916) with regard to proposed shipments
of 400 tons and 30 tons of Burma Lead to Yokohama.
I am to state, for the information of Mr. Secretary Bonar
Law, that circumstances have changed since the letter from
this Department of the 22nd July on this subject, and that 34706 there is no longer any objection to the re-exportation, under
proper safeguards, from Hong Kong of lead obtained from either
British or Foreign sources.
