RUBBER AND TIN EXPORTS COMMITTEE,
3, QUEEN ANNE'S GATE,
WESTMINSTER, S.W.
13th. September, 1916.
#4031,
sir,
I am directed by the Rubber and Tin Exporte Committee to
acknowledge the receipt of Mr. Grindle's letter of the 7th.
instant, (No6/42620/1916) forwarding a copy of a telegram from the
Governor of Hong Kong relative to a proposed shipment of 1,000
tons of Straits Tin from Hong Kong to Kobe.
In reply, I am to invite a reference to my letter of the
24th .ultimo (T.1522) in which the Committee expressed the
•
opinion that it is highly undesirable to allow the re-export
of Straits Tin from Hong Kong.
In this connection, I am to observe, for Mr. Secretary
Bonar Law'e information, that owing to the necessity for
maintaining and increasing the stocks available for the possible
requirements of His Majesty's Government, the export of
Straits Tin to all destinations is at present subject to the
8 Under-Secretary of State,
COLONIAL OFFICE.
