In his despatch of June 9th Governor/Hong
Kong has submitted to the Colonial Office the question
of treatment of shares held by enemies in British
China Companies in the event of reconstruction of a
new issue of shares.
I have received application for a licence to : allot to enemy subjects who held shares in original
company shares in a reconstructed company and shall
be grateful if you will inform me by telegraph whether
such a course is precluded by your telegram to Shanghai
No. (936) Forum. In that case I presume liquidator of
the old company should dispose of enemy shares and
place proceeds to the account of enemy dividende.
