Sir,

I am directed by the Board of Customs and Excise to draw the attention of the Secretary of State for the Colonies to the exportation to Hong Kong on the 5th instant by the "Nellore" from London of the following 1006 packages of tea :

1/151

151 boxes marked 문

660 boxes marked H.9.152/811

138 boxes marked

1/138

57 boxes marked

Admission of the tea to this country was

refused under section 30 of the Sale of Food and

Drugs Act 1875 as the samples examined at the

Government Laboratory were found to contain an excessive proportion of sand and the owners of the tea decided to re-export it under special bond.

I am to add that the tea in question has been exported to Hong Kong for transhipment to Canton and the facts are reported for any action that may be

considered desirable.

Under Secretary of State,
