As we are unable at present to communicate with

Germany

to obtain remittances for this indebtedness we wrote with this

view to the Liquidators of Messrs. Jebsen & Co., Hongkong, til

Joint Guarantors of the account, and have received their reply

of which we enclose a copy, stating that there are ample funds

and that they were putting the page before the Attorney-General

for reference to your goouself. In accordance with this suggestion

made in their said letter we now beg to approach you with regard

to the necessary authority for payment out of runas of Jebsen & Co.

in Liquidation in Hongkong, and we shall be prepared to give the

Guarantee mentioned by the Liquidators. We further enclose for

your perusal copies of our letter or 10th April to the Hongkong

Liquidatora with translation of the respective Guarantees for

which the Liquidators have asked us.

Our Bank, as you doubtless are aware is working under

a License dated 19th September 1914 from His Majesty's Government,

our Controller being Sir William Flender, and all amounts collected

by us go towards reducing our debt at the Bank of England.
