sir,
Goos
In reply to your letter 1436/1916)
dated 10th instant, on the subject of the Macao
Electric Lighting Company, I am directed by
Secretary Sir E. Grey to enclose, for the in-
formation of Mr. Secretary Bonar Law, copy of a
telegram from His Majesty's Minister at Lisbon
stating that the Company in question is a British
Company, registered in Hong Kong.
Sir E. Grey has reason to believe
that the Mr. Ricon referred to in the telegram
ia
Mr. S. . . Ricou the French Manager of the
Company's Works in Maoso.
Under these circumstances Sir E.
Grey sees no objection to permission being granted
to import this Machinery into Hong Kong and he is
prepared, should Hr. Secretary Bonar Law so desire,
to instruct His Majesty's Minister at Lisbon to
render any assistance he can to facilitate
transhipment.
I am,
Sir.
The Under Secretary of State,
COLONIAL OFFICE.
Your most obedient,
humble Servant,
Walter Sownley
for the CONTROLLER.
