Revolvers.
As far as you know, were Sinnecker and Rheinardt concerned?Yes.
We have a certain number of revolvers. Did you have
anything to do with the contract of 1500 revolvers?
1500 Mauser revolvers.
Who were the principals?
Rheinardt and myself. Morrison
was buying from me and was not my agent.
Do you know from whom Morrison was buying?
The deal did not go through? No.
No.
To turn to the 20,000 German rifles; did you arrange for
them yourself?
No.
To whom were all these rifles intended to be sold? Sinnecker
told me they were to be sold to Chinese only.
No other instructions?
!
No. Except Chinese nobody could buy.
Did you at any time hear to what destination these rifles
were to be sent? I once heard it said they were intended for
India and the Straits.
Where did you get that information from? I heard it talked
about between the parties, Schratter and Eichkopf that they
were to be shipped to the Straits.
Was there any other deal you had? Except the rifles and
revolvers I never had any other deal.
Mr Newman handed witness a document which he identified, and
which read as follows:- "Shanghai, 15th October 1915;
on demand, and after inspection the rifles being found in a
serviceable condition, I will pay J.C.Lewis Tls. 412,500 in bank notes, for 15,000 rifles and 1,500,000 cartridgea
aigned Zee Ler-sung, K and S. Bank: witnesses to the
signature Barnes, Moss and J. J.Gilmore."
