Wireless telegraphy is being installed in the forts
of the Fumon Defences, Canton, to ensure a speedy co-operation
in the event of a rising of bandita, The forts are being carefully guarded at present.
ACTIVITY OF CHINEZR R"B"LS IN SHANGHAI.
On Sunday, the bth instant, a motor launch with som forty men under cover of the Aduiral's flag, boarded the Chinese man-o'-war "Chao Ho" and took possession. They opened fire and other Chinese ships replied and after an hour everything wai quiet. Later on a shell from the "Ying Bui" struck the *Chao Ho* abaft the bridge and set her on fire whereupon the rebels fled to Paotung where they dispersed. Attempts were also made on the Chinese Bund and in Chapel with no serious results.
