In reply to Mr.Read's letter of the 13th instant 867/1915-16) I am directed by the Lords Commissioners of His Majesty's Treasury to request you to inform Mr. Secretary Boner Law that My Lords, for Their part, see no objection to the export of gold from Hong Kong to Holland, provided that there is no objection from the point of view of local monetary conditions and provided that in
every case the gold is consigned to the Netherlands Oversea Trust and the consent of the Trust to accept the consign- ment is received before shipment is actually made.
I am to add that in the present state of the exchanges between this country and Holland My Lords are disposed rather to favour than to discourage shipments of this nature.
