I am directed by the Board of Trade to refer to your letter (No. 44726/1916) of the 28th September respecting enemy shareholders in China Companies, and in reply I am to say that the Board concur in the proposal made in thežic. letter from the Foreign Trade Department of the 26th August that provision should be made for dealing with shares in China Companies to which enemies or enemy subjects may be entitled either on a new issue of shares of an existing China Company or on the issue of shares of a new China Company on a reconstruction.
