With reference to the ;etter from this Department of the 12th January last and previous correspondence respecting the proposed arrangements for dealing with claims under the Workmen's Compensation Act, 1906, by dependents of Chinese seamen, 1 am directed by the Board of Trade to transmit herewith for the informationof the Secretary of State, copy of a letter from the Colonial Office enclosing copies of letters from the Governors of Hong Kong and the Straits Settlements.
The Board presume that the Shipping Federation will be informed by you of the arrangements made; and the Board will inform the Shipping Officers at Hong Kong and Singapore of these arrangements,
in order that they can
help effectively any claimants who apply to them for assistance.
