With further reference to your letter (No.58139/15) of

the 16th February last, I am directed by the Board of Trade to state that the question of the credit facilities extended

to German firms in Hong Kong by the "London Acceptance" system

of the discount banks, was brought before the Advisory Committee

on Commercial Intelligence at the meeting held on the 11th April.

In accordance with the Committee's recommendations, the Board are calling the attention of the London accepting and financing houses concerned to the matter, and are inviting an expression of their views as to the policy to be pursued in future, particularly as regards the enforcement of a strict observance of the terms of the letters of lien.
