I am directed by Viscount Grey of Fallodon
to acknowledge the receipt of your letter 42375 of
the 11th instant regarding the smuggling of spuri-
ous opium from Macao to Mexico.
I em to inform you in reply that, since Hong- kong revenues were not affected by the alleged irregularity, Lord Grey is of opinion that it would not be advisable to take any action in the matter.
