Upon consideration of these papers, we incline to the opinion that the cargo of feathers in question, has been financed with German money and may be German property, but there is no evidence that it is intended to be re-exported to Germany
while the war laste.
The intercepted messages cited in our note on 6/8 "Douro", 7.4.16, (Contraband Scandinavia F.0. Paper No. 61669), and s/s "Texas" 10.5.16, sufficient ly show the intimate association of this firm with German interests, and particularly with the house of
Arnold Karberg & Co., of Hamburg and Shanghai.

The figures in the letter of the Copenhagen
Feather Factory can probably be relied upon; show that, assuming the quantity to be 12,000 to
14,000 bales, the transaction in question involves 2,000,000 kr. exclusive of the purchase of the ship. The figures given by the Nordisk Company's
accountants show that the company's total average
turn-over is about 1,200,000 Kr. It is therefore,
fairly clear that the present transaction is a
much larger one than they could be expected to
undertake without strong financial assistance.
With regard to the question of possible re-
export to Germany, it is difficult to express any
certain opinion. It seems on the whole improbable
