The Italian subject, boeh, travelling with an Italian passport and photograph, vised at ii, E. Li, Con- sulate-General in New York, on his way to Singapore to take up his post in the firm of the italian Consul in that city, was arrested in hongkong on saturday 12th February 1916 and treated shamefully. I enclose får

your perussi cony of the despatch forwarded to the

Colonial Secretary in Hongkong on the matter. I have

been informed that Mr. Boehm was going to be released

and sent to Singapore on 3.5. *Glenlogan".

I have to draw your attention to the following

facts:

(1) Mr. boehm left longkong on the 11th February per

(2) To leave Hongkong he received a pass from the Fo-

lice Authorities it was shown to me as well as his

(3) This shows there were no accusations against him

on the 11th February.
