as per enclosed copy, and thank you for the trouble you
have taken in this matter.
To-day we discussed th matter with the Foreign
office here, and with the British Consul and as they maant
that a perfectly clear description of how the matter stands,
might render the granting of an export permit possible, we
take the liberty of detailing the case from the beginning.
Last September we received from a Belgian mamu-
facturer: urniat Frères at Brussels, an offer or 300cases
window glass and knowing that it would be possible to sell
these goods in Hongkong; we asked the British Consulate here
whether, if we could prove that the goods were made by the
Belgian firm Burniat Freres, we would be sure of getting an
export permit for these goods to Hongkong. To this the ls: A
