TRINITY HOUSE TO CROWN AGENTS
L.1654
Gentlemen,
BAAN AND M
Trinity House,
London, E.C.
17th July
Referring to your letter of the 3rd July 1895,
(10984/95) relative to C.Nicholas, J.Mitchell and F.Coleman,
Trinity House Lightkeepers, engaged for a period of service
at Gap, Rock Light House, Hong Kong, having taken permanent
service under the Hong Kong Government, I am directed to
acquaint you that C.Nicholas, who it is now understood has
been pensioned by the Colonial Government, has made appli-
cation for the grant of a pension for the period 1879 to
1892 during which he served under the Trinity House.
The Corporation will therefore be glad to learn the
Regulations, particularly as regards age, under which
Nicholas was pensioned, and also whether his retirement was
due to illness or permanent incapacity to perform the
duties attaching to the position of Lightkeeper.
I am to add that as Nicholas is only 55 years of
age he would not be eligible for a pension under the
Superannuation Act applicable to Trinity House men.
I em etc.,
(Bgd.) H.G.WILLETT
