The addressee is the sole partner in the firm of Purnell Paget, American Architects, Canton. As such it
would seem strange that he should be buying antimony. The following extracts from Who's Who (April) throw much light
on the subject:-
H.C. Thomas Chan has made a contract with Purnell
& Paget, American Architects, Shandeen, to supply 1200 tons
of antimony in 10 lots monthly from February 1915 to 1916.
Antimony paid for by Diedrichsen, Shamaeen, who is Krupp's agent in the East.. Diedrichsen& Co. have been buying
1200 tons of antimony to be supplied in monthly lots.
Seller H.C. Thomas Chan. To be despatched vis Sanfrancisco.
Patell & Co. the senders are on the White List. They are
a Parsee firm of Hongkong & Canton. They should be warned.
