I have the heneur te noknowledge the receipt of your
letter of the 20th. December in which yeu inform me that His
Exollsroy the Gevarner has suspended me from the exercise of my
errice and is recommending to the Secretary of State for my
dismissal from the public service.
I propose to addrsee a memorial to the secretary
of State and I would sek that it may be forwarded with the
despatch in which His Excellency refers the matter.
I would however enquire in the first instance
whether His Excellency the Gaverrer can see his way to allow me to
volunteer for active service with the army, granting my wife
half my pay for her mainterazos during the peried of my military
service with the conditier that the question of my suspersien may
be held over until the end of the war, for further consideration
then. I may refer to my letter of the 20th. May last, in which
I volunteered før military service.
