Siemens China Elpotrical Engineering Compexy, Ltd. ongkong. Our Order No. 4682. Bruce Peebles à do's Order To. 25478-6
You will recollect that we received an order from the above concern in July for a 52 K. V. A. Alternating current Generator for direct coupling to and driving by means of an oil Engine to be manufactured by the Torbinis Engineering Company,
London. The order for the latter having been placed direct by Mosers, Siemens, Hongkong; there was some delay in Messrs. Bruce Peebles acomptamos of this order in view of the fact that they oould not obtain immediate permission to manufacture from the authorities at home. The matter, however, was satisfactorily settled finally, permission having been granted by the Under Secretary at the Colonial ofrige, and in this connection MORTE. Bruce Peebles wrote to us on the 21st. of August, as follows:-
"On the 18th. inst. we received a telegram from the Under Secretary at the Colonial office informing us that there was no objection to our accepting this order and wO therefore sabled you on that date as per the confirmation already posted, informing you that we could accept the order. that we were proceeding and asking you to telegraph the power factor, and we have now to ask thank you for your reply received here this morning stating that the power factor is unity. This now enables us to put the machine in hand and we are in communiostica with the Torbinis Engineering Co. (1918) Ltd. regarding various details.
The official order for this machine was sent to us by Hosere, Tozer, Konsley & Fisher, Ltd. on the lst. inst. regarding sad we are therefore writing them to-day in triplicate regarding this matter",
We are to-day in receipt of a cable from our London office advising that this order is now "bunkered" and requesting us to obtain immediately a suitable certificate from your goodself.
