These New sips.skips.
According to information regarded as reliable, says the
Hew York Berald" the Russiame have succeeded in adding three
now capital ships to their Baltic fleet in the last three
months. The keels for these vessels were laid before the
beginning of the war, but construction work was greatly
retarded in 1914 owing to the general demoralization arising
during the first period of the TAP. In 1915, however, the ship
work at Petrograd was pushed forward vigorously.
The great Poutiloff Works and the new Admiralty yards,
both in the Cronstadt-Petrograd district, had been thoroughly
reorganized early in 1918, sad in the spring of that year were
able to resuss work with a higher degree of efficiency, it is
said, than under the former managementɛ » A great number of
Germans had been employed in the Poutiloff Works up to the time
the war began. This contingent disappeared sarly in August
1914.
It is not stated definitely just which ships of those
building have been added to the Baltic fleet, but the
kasumption is that they comprise three of the four 22,000
tom battle oruisers which were under construction in 1915 at
the Beltio yards and at the new Admiralty yards.
