GOVERNMENT HOUSE.

HONGKONG. 18th. October, 1916.

Sir,

23975

With reference to my Despatch No. 246 of the 9th, July, 1914, and your telegram of the 3rd. August, 1914, I have the

honour to inform you that I opened the School for Indim boys pre-

-sented by Mr. Ellis Kadoorie on the 16th. of October.

I enclose a report of the proceedings from the "Hongkong Daily Press" newspaper. I would draw special attention to the fact that the cost of the buildings has been $35,000 all of

which has been borne by Mr. Ellis Kadoorie. His original offer was

to build a school at a cost of $20,000 but with his usual generosity

he has nearly doubled that sun.

I have the honour to be,

Sir.

Your most obedient,

humble servant,

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE

ANDREW BONAR LAW,
