Paraphrase of telegram from the Secretary of State for the Colonies to the Commissioner of Weihaiwei.

(Sent 4 p.m., 11th October, 1916.)

October 11th. Your telegram of 10th October. Árg consulting War Office and if they agree will endeavour to obtain use of barracks referred to.

My telegram of 6th October. Bourne left for Pekin 9th Cctober he is to report to Jordan and will proceed to Weihaiwei after doing this. Please give him on his arrival all possible assistance especially as regards accommodation for coolies and staff.

He has been instructed to communicate in cipher with Director Jeneral of Military Railway whose telegraphic address is: MILRAIL, London: you should transmit to me any telegrams which he may wish to send for transmission to War Office.

War Office ask that you will keep until you hear from Bourne any communications addressed to him at Weihaiwei.
