Confidential of the 18th, July md other correspondmes relating to the winding up of the firm of sears. Grupp & Co., I have the honour to enclose a copy of a letter addressed by the liquidators to the Attomoy-Gonoral, which shows that the liquidators have agreed to a compromiss with the liongkong; and Shanghai Banking. orporation, and that as a roult it asem probable that the creditora raanive a dividend of about ninety-fivo por cent. I am of opinion that the settlment was a wine one, though it is not by any moans certain that the costs would have come out of tho autate if the liquidators had been successful in the proceedings contemplated.

I may add that the heavy liability under the lenge of the firm's praises has bam got rid of by means of sub- -let ́ing.
The Captain Bunje referred to in the analosure to my e pitch of the 2nd. June is the anus person so the Rail Theodore Bunje montioned in my Despatch of the 15th. July.
