With reference to your letters of the 12th.
and 19th. August regarding certain cargo on the 6.6.
"Kafus" I have the honour to enclose a copy of a report
by Mr. J. D. Lloyd, Assistant Superintendent of Imports
and Exports on the subject of the detention of cargo by
that vessel intended for Hani la .
I also enclose (1) a manifest of the cargo
ex 8.6. "Kafus" which has been forwarded to Manila by
the 8.5. "City of Durhan", and (2) a manifest showing
the cargo ex 8.8. "Kafue" which is still detained in Hongkong.
The Agents of the 6.8. "Kafue" informed the
Superintendent of Imports and Exports that they had already
approached the consul-General for the United States of
Americs with regard to a certificate identifying the bargo,
as suggested in your letter of the 19th. August, but he
refused to assist in the matter. The Superintendent thereupon
gave the Agents signed and sealed copies of (1) and of the
original manifest of the $.5. "Kafue", and instructed them
to take them to the Conshl-General for the United States of
America and ask him to visa then,
The cargo referred to in your letter of the 11th.
August has been detained, but that consigned to the Philippine
