Sir,

REG2 2 OCT 16

GOVERNMENT HOUSE.

HONGKONG.

21st August, 1916.

I have the honour to transmit for your favourable consideration the enclosed copy of an application from the Ward- -master in charge of the Lunatic Asylum for an increase of salary together with copy of a minute thereon by the Assistant Superintendent, Government Civil Hospital, who has direct charge of the Asylum.

In view of the trying and arduous nature of the Wardmaster's duties I recommend that his salary be placed in the scale £200 to £220 by £10 biennially as from 1st January, 1917. This is the scale for Principal Warders in the Gaol and 2nd class Inspectors of Police.

As the Estimates for 1917 are involved I shall be obliged if your decision can be communicated by telegraph.

I have the honour to be, Sir,

Your most obedient,

humble servant,

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE

ANDREW BONAR LAW, M.P.
