I am directed to acknowledge the receipt of your
letters of the 27th and 31st May in which you make enquiry regarding the reported purpose of this Goverment to sell at public auction the Deutsch Asiatische Bank premises.

I am to state that it is proposed to sell this pro- perty in the ordinary course of the winding up of the local branch
of the Bank in question.

With regard to your further queties I am to inform
(a) that the books and records of the D. A. Bank will
be packed in cases and stored in the Kowloon Godowns; (b) that the records and furniture of the German Consulate
will be placed at your disposal, if you are prepared to find some other storage place for them. Otherwise
they will be stored in the Kowloon Godowns;
(c) the cases of personal private effects at present
stored at the D. A. Bank will be delivered to the
U. S. A. Consulate, against your receipt, for ship- ment to Shanghai, or for disposal as you may think fit. If you do not wish to take them over, they will
be stored in the Kowloon Godowns.
