With reference to the correspondenos nebed in

to be good enough to advance to the prisoners of war
These names appear in the smolesed lists the respective
sterling amounts appearing opposite to their names,
The amounté within brackets are the dollar
allowances which have been fised, and the sterling
amounts are the equivalents of those allowances at
2/2 13/16 the demand rate on London on the lat. May 1916.
The items in List A are intended to be in the
nature of quarterly allowshoes, but it must be clearly
understood that ne premise to continue these allowances
indefinitely is to be inferred. In the case of E.
Luhring, whose name has been added since I last
addressed Your Excellency in the subject, any future
allowance will be at the rate of $150 a quarter.
The items in List B are single renittamoss,
and Mr. Witzke should be informed that he must not
expect any further remittance this year.
All the above advances can of course be
recovered by Your Excellency's Government through
the Orown Agents.
