have the honour to request you to be so good

as to peruse the accompanying cerrespondence and, if you think fit, give instructions that our client Mr. U Hang Shing may be granted rødress in what he

conceives to be a serious grievance.

A great deal of dis-satisfaction has bem fer

some time felt here at the wording of the special

conditions attached to land sales; or rather perhaps

at the manner in which these special conditions have

been interpreted by the Director of Public Works.

This dis-satisfaction found expression in a

Gerrespondenes that ensued resently between several

of the firms of architects practising hers acting

in what they believed to be the interest of property

owners in the colony- and the Colonial Secretary.

Something in the nature of an informal agreement was

come to that the words design ΟΙ character *

should be construed in their ordinary sense, and shoul

not be held to include such vital matters as height;
