The
On or about the 20th March 1915 H.3. The Governor sanctioned the
promotion of an additional company intended for members who were not
qualified to comply with the requiremente (as to drill and other
duties) of the H.K.V.R. This Company is known as "D" Tompany -
members of this Company are expected to be able to perform simple
Arill movements and to qualify in musketry. The first drill was on
the 7th April 1915 & as a rule there is one drill a week. They are
provided with uniform and equipment. The strength of "D" do. at
31st March 1916 was 44 members.
The training of the H.X.V.R. up to the end of February 1916 Was Ba
laid down in "Infantry Training, 1911". On the 12th February 1916
sanotion was obtained from H.E. the 0. 0. 0. and H.E. the Governor
to adopt the New Company Organisation of 4 platoona per company as
laid down in "Infantry Training, 1914", On the 1st March 1916 the
New Organisation and drill came into force since which date ("D"
Co. axoluded) training has been carried out in socordance with
"Infantry Training, 1914". Classes for N.6.08.are now being held
twice a week.
7. HUSKETRY
Kowloon City Ranges "A" and "B" having beon allotted to the H.K.V.R.
between 9 a.m.and 4 p.m.on the 31st October, 7th, 21st & 28th
November, and 5th & 19th December 1915, musketry was chiefly wan
carried out on these dates. The remainder of the training wan
carried out at King's Park Hange as necessary. Excluding "D" Coy..
79 recruite fired Part I instructional practices and Part II
Standard Teat as laid down in Appendix IV Territorial Foros pages
274 & 275 Kusketry Regulations Part I 1909 reprint 1914, and 252
trained mon fired Part I instructional Practices and Fart II
Standard Tost as laid down in altoh Appendix on pages 277 & 278.
Of the 44 members of "D" Company, 25 completed the musketry course
for rearuits as laid down in Appendix IV above. The total number
of members who completed the musketry course was 356, including thos#
of "D" Co.
