In view of the recent interruption of traffic on the Canton-Kowloon Railway and to the danger of a recurrence and of possible damage to the permanent way and to rolling stock the General Officer Commanding and I are prepared to ask His Majesty's Government sanction to patrol the line every day with an armoured train, as far as the big Shek Lung bridge, carrying a force of say 50 troops and machine guns if Your Excellency is prepared to recommend such steps. I shall be glad of an expressior of Your Excellency's views.
