Te have to om receipt of yours dated 20th January enclosing an account current statement of Jebsen & Jebsen Hamburg in account with yourselves, we note from what you write that this was opended under joint guarantee dated 25th. April, 1914, as we are not in possession of the arrangement, at least, we cannot fishit, we shall thank you to send us copies of this arrangement and we will go into the matter again. As the position now stands, we do not see how it is possible to pay this account, as no single item is checkable here, the ao count no doubt is quite correct, but as liquidatore we could not on our own responsibility, vis á vis

with the Hongkong Government, from whom we receibe our appointment pay. There are ample funds, and to help you in the matter we are putting the case before the our Attorney-General, who will no doubt pass the matter along to the Secretary of State for the Colonies for a decision in the matter. Te therefore suggest that you on your part approach Mr. Bonar Law to authorise payment out of funds of Jebsen & Co. in liquidation Hongkong in terms of the joint guarantee of 25th. April, 1914, of which the liquidators are not in possession of on a guarantee of the correctness of the so count+ submitted. Subject to refund plus interest at the average current market rate of the period that you hold the money, if incorrect, and subject also that any refund claimed if disputed, that
