My Intelligence Officer states that "AUGUST BACH is
a missionary but I think more as a cloak for licentiousness
than anything else. In his luggage were numerous photographs
of naked women and a good deal of lurid literature, and many
books on sexual intercourse. He is quite able-bodied and
would certainly be liable for military service".
"He gave me some information concerning two fellow prisoners, all of which turned out untrue. He probably did it to put me off the scent in his own case, and I am heving him closely watched and his effects researched. A telegram from Shanghai, received yesterday, states that he is a German Agent".
