With reference to my letter of the 23rd.ultimo

I have the homur to inform you that Mr. T. H. King, Assistant Superintendent of Police, has now returned from Macho and I have

to cordially thank Your Excellency for the hospitality and assist-

-ance accorded to him.

Mr. King describes his visit with Captain

Fonseca and Mr. Tang Kam Tsai the Portuguese and Chinese represen-

-tative officers to Mincarira (Don Juan) and Wong Kam Islands and

reports that it has been established that the 4 Chinese refer red

to in my letter of the 2nd, ultiro were detained at the village of Tong Kom in Wong Kam Island. It we also ascertained that a Chinese kidnapped from Nim Wan in this Colony in August last had been detained at the village of Wong Leung Shan in Macarira Island and that the ransom for another Chinese resident in this Colony kidnapped during the same month was paid at Shui Hang in the same

island.

2..

It is evident that both these islands will continue to be used by pirates and robbers unless and until some arrangement for the policing of this disputed territory can be arrived at by the Portuguese and Chinese Goverments.

3.

I have further to inform Your Excellency that

in another recent kidnapping case from this Colony a letter demand

His Excellency

Senhor José Carlos da Main,

Governor of Maono,

MACAO.
