Sir,

GOVERNMENT HOUSE,

163

HONGKONG, 14th January, 1916.

I have the honour to enclose a copy of a letter

addressed by Messrs, Harry Wicking & Co. to the Attorney

Generel, with regard to the firm of Messrs. Arkell & Douglas of

New York, in which they state that there is some difficulty as

to future orders.

Permission has been granted for the goods already on order to come forward, and for the shipments to be financed through the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation,¦ but I should be glad to learn what the objection is to Messrs. Arkell & Douglas.

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE

ANDREW BONAR LAW, M.P.,

&c.,

&C.,

80.

I have the honour to be,

Sir,

Your most obedient,

humble servant,
